Episode Notes:

Dimitri Mugianis discusses the popularity of the iboga root for treating problematic drug use, his critique of the so-called Psychedelic Renaissance and the beautiful radical anarchy of the 12 Steps and the 12 Traditions. He treats addiction as a dynamic state and ever since an experience with iboga and an initiation into the Gabon tradition of Bwiti dramatically changed his relationship with opioids, he has been creating spaces of healing and acceptance for people dealing with their own problematic behaviors.

He currently works doing holistic harm reduction at New York Harm Reduction Educators (NYHRE)

Looking for a great organization to support during these hard times? This is it. NYHRE is fighting the stigmas associated with drug use and sex work, offers needle exchange, education, outreach, and holistic healing services for those in need. Your dollars go a long way to help.

A film the NYTimes called ‘aggressively unappetizing’, the documentary “I'm Dangerous with Love” by Michel Negroponte follows Dimitri to Gabon. Check it out!
