CBD for Dogs

CBD for Dogs

We all wish our floofers could stay puppies forever. While we can’t turn back time, we can give our dogs what they need to be their happiest, even on their hardest days.

Most people these days have at least a passing understanding of the advantages that CBD can provide humans. But did you know that dogs can benefit from hemp derived CBD in many of the same ways as their owners? Cats can benefit from CBD as well.

Here, we will explore how CBD extracts from PlusCBD Pet can be used daily to improve your dog’s quality of life. But first, let’s take a look at CBD and what we know about its benefits for dogs.

What is CBD?

CBD is a natural compound created by the hemp plant. Only just introduced to a national market in 2014, CBD derived from hemp is already claiming an ever growing slice of the human supplement and topical markets.

CBD and similar cannabinoids influence the body’s endocannabinoid system (the ECS), supporting its efforts to bring the body into balance through a wide range of functions. Your pets, and in fact all mammals, share the ECS, meaning that the benefits of CBD from hemp extracts can be experienced by your pets in the same ways as you.

However, the full spectrum hemp extract we use to create PlusCBD formulas, including PlusCBD Pet, is more than just CBD. There are over 500 constituents within our CBD oil that can interact with your pet’s body, including essential vitamins and minerals, terpenes, fatty acids, and trace cannabinoids, making CBD hemp extracts a smart addition to your pet’s diet.

Benefits of CBD for Dogs

Disrupted schedules. Changing environments. Aging bodies. These things don’t just make our days difficult. They cause our four-legged friends to struggle, too. PlusCBD Pet can help address both the physical and emotional discomfort that prevents your dog from being their happiest.

Many dogs react directly to their environment. This includes loud or unexpected noises, owners who are gone (or home) too often, unknown visitors or big crowds, and more, which can put them out of sorts. Designed for cats and dogs, PlusCBD Pet can be given to your fuzzier family members to maintain emotional balance, keeping them calm and relaxed on even the most stressful days.

PlusCBD Pet can also be used for its physical benefits. Our soothing hemp extract supports muscle and joint recovery after overuse (and extra long trips to the dog park) and can help relieve occasional joint stiffness. You can’t turn back time to when they were a puppy, but you can give your doggo their bounce back with CBD.

Stress and discomfort in your dog can lead to irregular behavior, restlessness, unhealthy eating habits, and even destructive activity. It’s times like these when CV Sciences PlusCBD Pet can help set things right. Daily use of PlusCBD Pet supports a happy and healthy lifestyle for your dog, so they can get back to feeling their best.

What is PlusCBD Pet?

Knowing how dogs can benefit in the same way as our human customers, we created an easy to use CBD liquid designed specifically for the needs of pets like your pup at home. PlusCBD Pet formulas feature delicious flavors your dog will love: including beef, chicken, and peanut butter (or unflavored for a purer approach to hemp extracts). We also offer PlusCBD Pet in a smaller 1 oz bottle in salmon or unflavored — perfect for the cats in your life.

Each 1.86 oz bottle of PlusCBD Pet contains a total of 500 mg of CBD. The number of uses you’ll get out of a single bottle will vary on the size of your dog, but an average medium sized dog (30 lbs) can expect about a month of servings.

Is CBD Safe for Dogs?

You want to do something good for your pet, but not at the chance of risking their health. That’s why many PlusCBD customers want to know if our pet products are safe for their dogs. When formulating PlusCBD Pet, we use the same top quality hemp extract that has made PlusCBD the best selling CBD in the natural market.

PlusCBD takes meticulous steps to protect the integrity of our CBD formulas – that's why we believe we are the most reliable hemp extracts on Earth. Our hemp is expertly cultivated and extracted using a non-toxic method to prevent residual toxins from entering our CBD oil. PlusCBD products, including PlusCBD Pet, are manufactured in cGMP facilities and third party tested for consistency and purity. All this so that you can give PlusCBD Pet to your dog with confidence. It is also important to understand that hemp is not marijuana. The main difference between the two plants (but certainly not the only difference) is the ratio of cannabinoids present in the plant. Marijuana is known for its high levels of THC. This is the compound linked to marijuana’s intoxicating effects. Hemp, on the other hand, provides users with CBD and has only trace levels of THC. That means hemp extracts (like those in PlusCBD Pet) are non-intoxicating for both you and your dog.

Giving CBD to Your Dog

Once you’ve decided to begin giving CBD to your dog, you’ll likely still have questions about how to help your pet get the most from our hemp extracts.

A commonly searched question by pet owners is “How much CBD oil should I give my dog?” When deciding how much PlusCBD Pet to give your dog, we suggest the following:

  • 1.86 oz bottle: 3 pumps per 10 pounds of body weight
  • 1 oz bottle: 4 pumps per 10 pounds of body weight

However, our CBD liquids allow for flexible daily servings, so ultimately, the choice is yours. When deciding how much CBD to give to your dog, it is recommended you start out at their suggested serving for their size and, if needed, increase incrementally to reach desired impact. Larger than suggested servings are best used under the supervision of your dog’s vet.

Many first time PlusCBD Pet users wonder: “How do I give CBD to my pet?” The answer largely depends on your pet and their preferences. Regardless of the method you choose, our easy to use pump top bottle makes dispensing PlusCBD Pet a breeze. Before giving our hemp extract to your dog, give the bottle a good shake to make sure it is well mixed.

Our CBD liquid is commonly given to dogs in one of three ways:

  • Dispensed onto a spoon to lick off
  • Added to their food or favorite dry treat
  • Placed on front paw to lick off

Most dogs will be happy to lap PlusCBD Pet right off a spoon thanks in large part to its tasty flavors. Just pump out the desired serving onto a spoon and offer it to your dog to lick off.

Pickier pups might not be as eager to take PlusCBD Pet off a spoon. If this is the case, try adding our CBD liquid to your dog’s food or even on top of their favorite dry treat. When combined with the foods they are already used to can help make it easier to introduce PlusCBD Pet to your dog’s daily routine.

Some dogs may resist something new. If that is the case, many dog owners find that pumping liquids like PlusCBD Pet products onto their dog’s paw is an effective option. When dog’s feel the liquid on their paw, they will usually lick it off in an effort to keep it clean.

Whichever method your dog takes to best, we strongly suggest keeping up with a daily PlusCBD Pet routine to maintain steady CBD levels in your pet’s system for the biggest impact on physical and emotional wellbeing.

Supporting Your Dog This Summer

We recommend keeping a journal as you experiment with your dog's CBD. It can help you find the best time of day and the right amount that works for your dog.

Compared to traditional pharmaceuticals, CBD’s side effects are minimal. They may include sleepiness, stomach upset or changes in appetite. As noted in the safety studies above, these effects are transient, and if you lower the amount of CBD or discontinue it, these will go away.

To try CBD for your dog, we have a 4th of July special where buying one bottle gives you 50% off your second bottle.

Try CBD today to help your dog with their return to normalcy.
